Director, Product Design at Loblaw Digital. Leading the design practice for Fulfill & Assist and Enterprise AI — building the experiences that help Canadians shop, fill prescriptions, and navigate complex digital journeys.
Serve First
The most powerful thing a leader can do is clear the path. If you're not contributing to the work, contribute to the people doing it — remove friction, keep morale high.
Think in Systems
Design at scale is orchestration. Aligning people, process, and craft across Fulfill, Assist, and AI means every decision has downstream consequences worth thinking through.
Build Culture
The product lives in the people. Psychological safety, listening space, and radical candor are the highest-leverage design decisions you can make as a leader.

Get the Pizza
"If we couldn't contribute to that goal by doing something meaningful on set, then we needed to contribute to the on-set culture; we needed to keep morale high."
A lesson from a film set in the early 2000s — on servant leadership, knowing when to step back, and why sometimes the most important thing you can do is just get the pizza.

ABOUT
JACOB
HANANIA
Jacob Hanania is a design leader and filmmaker based in Toronto. He is Director of Product Design at Loblaw Digital, leading the practice for Fulfill & Assist and Enterprise AI — building the systems that help Canadians shop, fill prescriptions, and navigate complex digital experiences.
Before product design, Jacob spent years behind a camera. His films have been developed through the Canadian Film Centre and produced across the independent circuit — short drama, romantic comedy, musical. He considers both disciplines the same work: reducing friction between an idea and the person it's meant for.
Outside of screens — both kinds — he is a baseball fan, a curler, a photographer, a traveler, and a devoted dogfather to Stevie.
